If you go to a convention or waste money for a skin, that's your problem. BHVR never said they'd be exclusives forever, so why should they care about your bad money uses? You decided to waste money on a cosmetic and now you suffer the consequences
It's like you didn't even read my first comment on this discussion, yet you replied to it, hence why this conversation is still ongoing. I got my Dweard + Sharp Mustache Jake from a code drop on a Twitch stream of a Dead By Daylight tournament. I didn't decide to waste my money, nor am I going to suffer the consequences of owning EXCLUSIVES. Do you know why they are called exclusive cosmetics? Because they aren't available to every player in the Dead By Daylight fan base, and they knew that from day 1. The closest definition I could find for the cosmetics would be; "catering or available to only a few, select people; high class and expensive." I find it off-puting that the Devs had the nerve to call these items exclusive, give them to a select few who would participate/show their dedication to the game by joining in on events that Dead By Daylight would be in, such as PAX West 2016, and then take away the exclusiveness of these items. The devs had to know from the get-go that giving these EXCLUSIVE in-game cosmetics to a select few who earned and deserved them, would eventually EXCLUDE people who wouldn't be able to obtain these cosmetics... hence why they are called exclusive(s). BHVR might've not said that these items will stay exclusive forever, but it's right in the name of the item, the Dweard head that I own is a exclusive because only a select few portion of the community owns these items, but for every single player in this community to own these items, it just feels weird and wrong. I would've liked it if they talked about this with the community of Dead By Daylight instead of just making such a rash decision so quickly.

Dude convention exclusives where all for like steam, plus it was a bonus. Getting stuff at conventions is a bonus, if you wasted a convention ticket on a Skin, well you live with your bad choices
Your reply is confusing. Yes, convention exclusives did indeed have to do with Steam because you had to put the cosmetic code that was as long as this: XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX into the "activate product on steam" option on the bottom left "+" tab of your steam app on a Desktop (Not sure how to do it on mobile). And yes, it was indeed a bonus to get these exclusives at conventions, but people got these exclusives because they either won them somehow (In a tournament), or because they went to the convention. Also not sure what you mean by that last part, I'm guessing you're saying that going to a convention just to get an exclusive in-game item is a waste of going to the convention, but honestly, a lot of dedicated Dead By Daylight fans actually ended up doing this, and they would go to events that Dead By Daylight would be at (Like ComicCon) just to see if there would be exclusives given away (They used to hold a hefty price back then, and until everyone heard about everyone getting these cosmetics in the new chapter, exclusives could cost anywhere from a $20 Chuckles Trapper mask to a $800 Golden Feng outfit). So yes convention exclusives did have to do with Steam because you had to activate a code you would get at the convention on Steam, and yes getting these codes at conventions were a bonus, but now they aren't because everyone (Regardless if they went to the convention or not) is getting them.

Title explains it. Took a couple attempts to get the title to fit with the number of characters I could use
I'd really like to see this happen, but I'm fine if it doesn't, I just think it's so strange of them to just drop all exclusives for everyone to have so late, they had 3 years to do this, and they decide to do it after loads of people have spent hundreds, even thousands on cosmetics. (Golden Feng costs like 1k lol) I really support this idea, maybe something like prestige exclusives or something, or maybe it stays the same rarity, but the ones everyone gets are different. Not sure, but thanks for posting this lol, kinda want something about this to change.

They're just skins. No one "won" them as the events were linked to doing special gens or hooks. If you attended a convention, then great but that doesn't mean only you can ever get the skins. Console didn't even get the chance to participate in any of these skins. Just like when Bill was put on console, the skins will too
I'm not talking about the in-game event exclusive skins, I know that no one "won" those, but I'm talking about the exclusives such as PAX Exclusives, TwitchCon Exclusives, Brazilian ComicCon Exclusives, Thailand BIG Tournament Exclusive, Taipei Gameshow Exclusive, Shanghai WePlay, etc, these included Dweard, Gold Feng, Ace hats, and much more. People would host tournaments on Twitch and YouTube of Dead By Daylight and the winnings would usually be some exclusive such as Gold Feng Min, or David's Donkey Jacket, that's what I was talking about when I said people were winning exclusives. I find it weird that attending a convention and supporting the Dead By Daylight dev team since the start of exclusives gave them a code to use as a exclusive, but now they're just going to hand them out free for everyone, which clearly makes it not a exclusive anymore, disregarding the old name of the items, since they're now known as non-exclusive items due to the upcoming chapter. I just really don't like the sound of it. (Keep in mind I'm typing this out at 3am for some reason, so this last part might not make sense, but I hope it does) Also, not trying to be mean to console players, but Dead By Daylight was originally only created for PC, the controls and how it ran was specifically made for, and built for PC, you can definitely tell that the game runs better on PC, and that you can do so much more on PC than console, that's just how it be, though a year later they wanted to branch out to console because their community was growing so quicly, I don't blame them, but it just makes sense why the only exclusive skins released were released on PC. I'm not trying to argue, I'm only trying to discuss this, and throw my opinion out there.

I personally dislike this decision a lot. I had gotten a Dweard + Sharp Mustache Jake code from the Dead By Daylight "Survive The Staff" Discord tournament, they dropped a code in the chat and luckily I was the first to actually use it. But now that I know that this is what they're planning to do w/ exclusives, I'm quite dissapointed. I think everyone should be treated equally, and nobody should be left out, but when it comes to having in-game cosmetics that are called "Exclusives" I think there's no way you can't exclude people. They're called "Exclusives" for a reason, and I can't help but feel that it's just wrong to give away all of these cosmetics to every player when players would get these items from winning tournaments, and or going to events such as PAX, not only that, but I feel as if the amount of people buying Auric Cells to purchase in-game cosmetics will drop down for a bit, since some of these exclusives are literally the best looking cosmetics in the game. (Dweard, Golden Feng, Ace's hats...) I uhhh usually don't know how to end off ######### like this because I don't really give my opinion about updates and changes on the forums, but I just thought I'd say my opinion about this. I think it's unfair and a bit wrong to those who won these items, and or got these items fron going to events, I'd suggest the devs do something to the exclusives that people own right now that will tell apart them from the free ones they'll be giving away to everyone... maybe a short thank you or a different description on the item in-game, maybe it'll be a different rarity, or maybe they'll update the exclusives looks, maybe by adding a prestige look to it, or just something subtle that looks different. Not quite sure, but I really do dislike what they're planning to do.
