  • When I get around to playing another round of Clown I'll make sure to record and upload to Bug Reporting if I encounter the same issue. Thank you for clarifying.

  • Sorry, I don't; I would have to play another match with Clown to record a video of it and I really don't want to right now. What I just experienced made me turn the game off.

    • Your platform: PlayStation4 "PS4"

I just recently learned about the Fog Whisperers Program... Apparently most of the streamers I watch on Twitch are a part of that program and they also experience the multitude of Sound Bugs far more regularly with the greater investment into game time. I am hopeful they are reporting all the various Sound Bugs I hear them discuss on stream through the Fog Whisperers Program. Now I understand why TrU3Ta1ent didn't respond here on the forums since he has a more direct line with the developers I suppose.

I've given up on reporting issues but wanted to add one last post to this thread since the Sound Bugs were driving me crazy. Now if you click the above link you'll see game play of just "vibing" where sound really doesn't matter. Who needs to worry about Sound Bugs when you just rock-out the entire game anyway?

For anyone curious here is a link to the Fog Whisperers Program Official Page: https://deadbydaylight.com/en/news/fog-whisperers-program-2020

    • Your platform: PC & PS4
    • What sound(s) was silent: Various sounds were silent. Most notably the Survivors made no Injured sounds. A number of Survivors made no Dying sounds.
    • The map you were playing on: Various
    • A clip of the incident, if you have one: I was watching TrU3Ta1ent stream on Twitch and during his stream he was encountering the same sound bugs I do on PS4. He kept mentioning the bugs as he encountered them and really started pointing them out near the end of the stream.
    • The time frame when the error occurred (The date and time you had the issue): On July 13th, 2020 between 9 AM and 11:55 AM (MST - Daylight Savings Observed) I do not know TrU3Ta1ent's time zone.
    • Logs (apply to PC only) I put a request in his chat that he reply to this thread and share his clips + logs.

At the time I was watching DbD on Twitch, TrU3Ta1ent was the top streamer with the most viewers. For hours on his stream he was constantly encountering sound bugs. He mentioned that today seemed especially bad for some reason but wasn't sure if it was because he was just noticing it more or it really was happening more.

    • Your platform: PlayStation4 "PS4"
    • What sound(s) was silent: All 4 Survivors made no sounds. Walking, Running, Breathing, Repairing, Falling, Injured, Healing, Being Healed and Dying. 2/4 made no sounds while cleansing totems but probably all 4 were this way... I only got to watch 2 of them during the cleanse animations.

Deathslinger on a map like Lery's where Red Rank Survivors are making absolutely no sound what-so-ever? I guess the Entity said, "Fun shall not be had in my realm!"

    • Your platform: PlayStation4 "PS4"
    • What sound(s) was silent: All 4 Survivors made no Breathing, Walking or Running Sounds. 3/4 made no Injured Sounds. 3/4 made no Dying Sounds. 4/4 made no Healing Sounds. 2/4 made no Vaulting Sounds.

    • A clip of the incident, if you have one: I have been warned by a fellow player not to upload a video of any recorded bugs** I've been informed that if I incur the wrath of the developers that you'll see my user ID and outright ban my account... There are plenty of videos posted around on the forum showcasing these bugs are legitimate so I refuse to take this risk; I don't do video editing so I can't just obfuscate my ID either.

The best part about this run in with the Sound Bugs was I was attempting to complete a Daily Ritual for Oni whose power bugged out on me as well in this match; It was already bad enough I couldn't hear the Survivors but losing out on my Power entirely was almost 100% defeating.

I came across A TON of Blood Orbs and attempted to Absorb them. As the final 3 were pulling into my Oni my ability to Absorb bugged out and I was stuck at 99.999% to having my Power Meter full. I was hoping when I hit a healthy Survivor that it would fix itself but it did not; It played the animation that I was slurping up their blood from the hit but I stayed stuck at 99.999% with the Absorb command broken and unable to activate my Rage!

*EDIT* The only sound related Perk in play that game was Iron Will and only 1 Survivor had it equipped. I am including Quick & Quiet in my sound related list by the way since as mentioned above: "2/4 made no Vaulting Sounds."

    • Your platform: PlayStation4 "PS4"
    • What sound(s) was silent: 3 out of 4 of the Survivors made no Breathing or Movement (Running and Falling) Sounds. 1 of them made no repair sounds. All 4 of them made no injured sounds. 2 of them made no dying sounds. 2 of them made no sounds while being healed. 1 of them made no sounds while healing another Survivor.
    • The map you were playing on: Red Forest - Mother's Dwelling
    • A clip of the incident, if you have one: I was too aggravated by the end of the match to remember to hit the record button.

The Survivors eventually started goofing around with me near the 75% mark of the match. I sent one a message to explain the plethora of bugs I was experiencing and they helped me test to see how many sounds were broken. When the match ended and I got to confirm just how few sounds ANY of the Survivors were making without any sound related perks on all 4 of them; I was beyond fuming and immediately shut down my PS4. It was my first game after having just power-cycled my PS4 due to frame drops I experienced while trying to do the Killer Archive Challenge requiring Beast of Prey. I completed that challenge, power-cycled my PS4 and switched over to the Legion Based Challenge so my perks were: Discordance, Mad Grit, Iron Maiden, and Barbecue & Chili.

    • Your platform: PlayStation4 "PS4"
    • What sound(s) was silent: Many of my own Survivor sounds. Walking, Running, Breathing, Injured Sound (as I was injured), Self-Caring was also silent. After I full healed myself or perhaps when I stopped crouching after healing some of my sounds returned to normal. I did not make any footstep sounds ALL match.
    • The map you were playing on: Coldwind Farm - Rancid Abattoir "LD24"
    • A clip of the incident, if you have one: I am out of space to record game-play clips at this time thanks to the Last of Us Part II.
    • The time frame when the error occurred (The date and time you had the issue): On June 28th, 2020 between 4:00 AM and 4:10 AM (MST - Daylight Savings Observed)
    • Logs (apply to PC only)

I'm hoping with the information you're requesting from the Community you can see details about the match on your end and that's why we don't need to provide what Perks were used or further details.

    • In case it helps narrow things down: This match had Nea, Bill, Kate and Yui against an Oni

Thank you for taking a look into this bug. Maybe this will change the tune to: "99 little bugs in the game, 99 little bugs. Take one down, patch it around , 98 bugs in the game!"

  • Just played 1 game on the New Midwich Elementary School map as Clown (Pop, Dying Light, Sloppy Butcher and BBQ). Absolutely destroyed a 4 man SWF who messaged me GG via PSN after the match! 2/4 of those Survivors ran Iron Will with Calm Spirit but all 4 had Iron Will. It was my first game of the day and apparently the stars aligned as I didn't experience every single sound bug... just a few. 32k Bloodpoints perfect 4 Iridescent Double Pip match in Red Ranks where even the Survivors ON CONSOLE messaged GG to a Clown!! Final note: there were 2 generators left and I did not close hatch so the End Game Collapse never started.

Queued up for my 2nd game of the day being in a pretty great mood from that experience. Match loads in and it's Midwich Elementary School (again). I immediately notice the End Game Collapse Music playing non-stop **insert "aww heck, here we go again" meme**. I get crushed as all 4 Survivors go super immersive mode and I cannot find anyone. No generators get touched for 3 solid minutes of me just patrolling the map. I proceeded to encounter the 4 Survivors in the match and, obviously, they were all completely silent in every conceivable situation. By the end of the match I've only hooked 3 different Survivors and had a total of 5 hooks. I down the one Survivor I haven't hooked while they're trying to open the Exit Gate and they press themselves up against the wall under the Exit Gate Switch; Being frustrated I go to grab them without turning away from the Switch and accidentally begin opening the Exit Gate but wait! . . . . . . I get stuck in the animation to open the Exit Gate. The other Survivors come and heal the downed Survivor and I can just barely see one of them t-bagging to my left. They finish healing everyone to full and I can no longer see t-bagging until -> 3 minutes of EXPLOSIONS as they vault and possibly let crows appear above their heads before finally opening the other Exit Gate. They wait out the ENTIRE EGC TIMER constantly vaulting or something before they finally leave right before the EGC Timer depletes. And if you've read this far you know for certain what the Survivors did next! All 4 of them sent me Typical Toxic Survivor Messages; I cannot share what they sent me as I believe their wording is against this Forum's ToS but I'm sure you can all imagine. I did report them in-game and reported their PSN messages without responding (plus, I've already gotten confirmation from Sony that action has been taken due to the nature of the messages). After I finished reporting these 4 Survivors I looked at their Perks and low and behold... NONE OF THEM HAD IRON WILL, CALM SPIRIT OR ANY OTHER PERK OF THAT TYPE/CLASS!!!

I never once saw a ping indicator on my screen and I never have actually (I have very good service through my ISP). During the final 6 or so minutes of the match I had plenty of time to watch the Survivors Pings which varied from 80ms - 200ms but mostly stayed around 80ms.

So like... What is going on Dead by Daylight Developers? When the Survivors have a decent amount of bugs plaguing the Killer and the Killer does very well and beats them they don't get upset. They were very jovial about that match. When the Survivors have every possible SOUND BUG (plus a glitch that got me stuck in an animation), that I can currently identify anyway, plaguing the Killer and the Killer performs poorly they become hyper toxic and practically hold the game hostage. If those Survivors could play against me when I'm at 100% (EG: Not affected by every possible SOUND BUG) they would easily be put in their place and maybe learn to stop their crap without potentially being banned by Sony/PSN. This 2nd game of the day experience I had was actually the norm for me and I'm very displeased that this thread isn't even Acknowledged. Since the bugs occur so frequently should I just accept this as the expected Dead by Daylight Experience? I understand if you can't easily fix these problems. I do not understand why you can't at the very least say, "Hey, we know it sucks... We're trying to fix it but please just bare with us."

I guess what I'm trying to say is: Bump and here is a story of what these bugs are causing.

  • @Toybasher This bug does indeed occur in reverse but it is often very difficult to notice as Survivor when it actually does; In my testing I've been recording my game play and then going back to review if I missed any sound bugs and upon review I notice many more absent sounds then while I was playing as Survivor.

I would list out all of the absent Killer sounds I've experienced but I feel that it's redundant at this point. In reviewing the spreadsheet I have tracking all of the Killer sound bugs I've experienced as Survivor I really feel like my idea as to the root cause of the problem is correct.

  • I feel like the thread that @Williamz started on March 12, 2020 which is in "Acknowledged Status" is simply still not resolved.

That thread is located here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/136961/survivors-have-no-grunting-audio-effect-when-injured

However, the sound bugs seems to be expanded beyond what was reported in that thread as now survivors actually make even less sounds. I have done some additional testing and would like to add to this thread since I feel the issue now goes beyond the scope of Williamz's bug report.

    Steps to Reproduce:

    1. Install and launch build 4.0.0 on PS4 or PC (only platforms I can test)

    2. Queue for game as ANY Survivor OR Any Killer (you can play KYF, Tutorial or Public to experience this issue)

2a. Testing done during the following times: 2 PM, 4 PM, 6 PM, 8 PM, 11 PM, 2 AM (MST)

    3. Play on ANY version of ANY map

    4. If playing as ANY Survivor you may instantly notice that even PERK-less you emit no sounds while performing the following actions:

Simply breathing, walking, running, being hit by the killer, being injured, being in the dying state, being hooked by the killer, falling from a great height or landing from a great fall.

    5. If playing as ANY Killer you may notice that even PERK-less OR with tracking type perks such as Stridor that Survivors emit no sounds in the following circumstances:

Simply breathing, walking, running, being hit by the killer, being injured, being in the dying state, being hooked by the killer, falling from a great height or landing from a great fall.

    6. Uhm... Yeah. That's it really. You don't need to do anything other than play the game to experience these sound bugs.

    Occurs on:

PS4 and PC as I now have the ability to test on PC

The video in @Tomozudoari's post at the start of this thread showcases the bugs pretty well.

***MIGHT HAVE IDENTIFIED THE CAUSE OF SOUND BUGS -- IMPORTANT FOR DEVELOPER (SEE BELOW)***

In all of the testing I've been doing I'm starting to think this bug might be a concurrent sound priority bug!!! My line of thinking assumes that to reduce system load there is a maximum number of concurrent sounds permitted by that game at any given time and if that limit is reached anything with a lower priority is muted. Some games have this as a setting that the user can control. These sound bugs are much more noticeable when playing on the newer/reworked maps that have plenty of ambient sounds. This leads me to believe when a match loads-up and the systems of all the players begin to load in the map assets that the sound priority tree is bugged, incorrectly ordered, not ordered at all, ordered on first come basis or straight up random.

This would make a TON of sense as to why this bug affects some players in a match and not all, why it is not easy to replicate and why it affects Killers and Survivors differently.

***POSSIBLY IDENTIFIED THE CAUSE OF SOUND BUGS -- IMPORTANT FOR DEVELOPER (SEE ABOVE)***

  • I'm surprised you've only noticed this on survivors in the dying state. Anyways, I would consider this a duplicate of this thread LINK HERE which has been Acknowledged since March 13th.

If you turn your volume up enough to possibly cause personal injury you can just barely make out the sounds of the survivors body dragging along the ground but that's not recommended.

I've switched to just listening to music and turning off all in-game audio at this point.

  • Finally got a chance to play some Dead by Daylight and did some survivor and killer games.

This bug is still going on and is painfully noticeable on Spirit.

I just want to add: There doesn't seem to be any trigger that I can find which applies this bug to a survivor. I recorded 8 of my killer matches and played them back to try to figure out this puzzle. Over half of the survivors I encountered gave off absolutely no sounds of breathing in all 8 games regardless of what perks I was using or they were using... I decided to ask some players to help me in a Kill Your Friends game to test this nonsense and it happened there as well.

Steps to Reproduce (part 2, from just me anyway):

    1. Install and launch build 3.7.2 (0.1.0 patches since I last reported on this) on PS4

    2. Create a lobby as Spirit, Clown, Shape, or Trapper (all I could convince randoms to help me test)

2a. Time of day was around late evening (MST)

((NOTE)) This was done in Kill Your Friends -- No Perks were used on Killer or any Survivor

[Survivors tested]: Dwight, Meg, Claudette, Jake, Nea, Ace, Bill, Feng, David, Kate, Jane and Zarina

[Survivors affected]: Dwight, Meg, Claudette, Jake, Ace, Bill, Feng, Jane, Zarina IN JUST 4 GAMES OF TESTING WITH KYF!!!

    3. Proceed to any map and locate any Survivor

    4. Be disappointed that once again the Survivor is not making any sound

4a. Put Survivor into Injured State with Basic Attack & then be disappointed that once again they make no sound

4b. Put Survivor fully into dying state with Basic Attack and well... you get the idea but just to be clear --> be infuriated that the DYING STATE survivor makes absolutely no sound whatsoever

((NOTE)) It still doesn't matter whether the killer uses their Power or a Basic Attack (lunge or no lunge) and I mean come on... They don't make any sound when you first encounter them! The killer doesn't even need to interact with the survivor for them to be dead silent.

Fun bonus: I convinced one of the survivors I asked to help me test this to do one last KYF with just them and myself except they were the killer (Trapper) and I was the survivor (Jane). They also experienced this bug and were beyond flabbergasted that I was 100% serious when I told them I couldn't hear most survivors. Both myself and the player that helped me had heard that Jane is supposed to be one of the loudest survivors in the game and regardless of health state he couldn't hear my PERK-LESS Jane.

Fix identified: I finally found a fix for this problem for anyone encountering it on any platform! Go to Options, Settings, Audio, Adjust Main Volume to 0%, Adjust Menu Music to 0%, Ignore the Headphones check box, Save and close your Options Menu. Find some way to play some music that you enjoy any way you can while you play Dead by Daylight. /sarcasm but solid suggestion just the same

  • I see that this Bug has been "Acknowledged" but I would just like to add to it. This has been driving me crazy for months now and today has finally pushed me over the edge with 3 back to back games having all 4 survivors affected by this bug; I even fully restarted my PS4 after each game in an attempt to fix it before I played again! As Williamz asked above, I too would love to see a comment on this. Even if it's just a "hey, we're aware of it and trying to fix it. Please be patient." type of thing. I normally only experience this bug on 1-2 survivors every game or every other game but all 4 of them for 3 games in a row was a first.

    Summary:

The survivor has no grunting audio effect when injured in full health state, injured, or dying state. No perks related on either side.

    Description:

When the survivor simply exists in the game they give off no sound cue of even being in the same plane of existence game.

This is happening to me with Trapper, Wraith, HIllbilly, Nurse, Hag, Doctor, Huntress, Clown and Spirit. It is most easily noticed on Spirit.

In the 3 games that just finally drove me to create an account to add to this post I was running Stridor in only 1 of my builds; I played Hillbilly, Hag and then Spirit finally with Stridor. Not any one of the 12 survivors in those games were running any of the following perks: Balanced Landing, Calm Spirit, Iron Will, No Mither, Off the Record, Pharmacy, Quick & Quiet, Red Herring, or Technician. PRO TIP: These are the only survivor perks that have any influence on audio in any way shape or form and Red Herring probably doesn't belong but I included it on my list anyway.

I wrote down the survivors from each game and their perks. ALL of these survivors were silent from the beginning of the game: 2x Dwights, 1x Meg, 2x Claudettes, 2x Neas, 1x Bill, 1x Feng, 1x Yui, 1x Jeff, and 1x Quentin. None of them wore Legacy Cosmetics because I'm on PS4 but some of them were prestige. I will list all of their perks as well if that information is requested but since they were using none of the above listed ones I don't think that information should be necessary.

I did not experience any lag during any of the 3 matches if that matters. None of the survivors were lagging either... at least for the survivors I messaged and that messaged me back (7 out of 12).

One survivor disconnected for some unknown reason in the 2nd game.

These are the maps that were played on: Red Forest - Mother's Dwelling, Gideon Meat Plant - The Game, Grave of Glenvale - Dead Dawg Saloon.

    Steps to Reproduce:

    1. Install and launch build 3.6.2 on PS4

    2. Create a lobby as any of the above listed killers (or probably any killer but I can't test them all)

2a. Time of day was around late afternoon (MST)

    3. Proceed to any map and locate any Survivor

    4. Be disappointed that once again the Survivor is not making any sound

4a. Put Survivor into Injured State with Basic Attack & then be disappointed that once again they make no sound

4b. Put Survivor fully into dying state with Basic Attack and well... you get the idea

Special note: It actually doesn't matter if you change the survivor's health state with a Basic Attack or an Ability from what I've been experiencing.

    5. Question your reality and wonder if this is happening for a reason

    Occurs on:

PS4 as far as I am aware (I don't play DbD on the other platforms)

    Attachments:

The video evidence posted above is identical to my problem except it happens regardless of survivor health state for me. I'm afraid if I were to start recording and uploading all the instances of this happening to me I would have a YouTube video longer than Titanic anyways.

    Bonus:

This has been going on most notably since January for me. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling DbD. I have tried a new PS4. I have tried an older PS4. I have tried a PS4 Pro. I have tried various settings both on the PS4 and in DbD such as the headphones option on/off. I have tried my wireless headset, my surround speakers, earbuds plugged into my controller. I have tried playing DbD with an alternate account to see if t was strictly tied to my main account. I have full on tried playing DbD in a different house with a different internet provider in a different city on a different PS4 with a friends account. Again, I know this bug has been "Acknowledged" so my post here is probably just a huge waste of time but this bug has been so unbelievably frustrating and today was just too much.
