  • Ok so you're not alone here. I have a mid-level gaming PC and I've played DBD on it with good performance for 2 years now.

Suddenly after Patch 7.4.2, my game has been doing this off and on. No clue what's happening with it, as it was running fine at max settings beforehand. (Low bar, but still)

"Please rewrite your code so I can mess it up easier."

This isn't a game feature. If you want to tamper with the game files that's on your head.

There's no messing with the code to do this. It's an image override folder that BHVR intentionally left in the game files so people can add custom icons. In fact, they've supported modding for YEARS as long as it doesn't provide any advantages, and if there are, then it stays out of Live servers.

Wait, they have to mess around with the game files to do this? Won't the anti-cheat pounce on them? Aren't they screwed if banned? I seem to remember reading in these forums that the devs can't do squat if banned...

Easy Anti Cheat only looks through the pak files, which is COMPLETELY different from icon modding in most cases. Icon mods are safe because it has nothing to do with the pak files, and BHVR has been fine with it because it doesn't provide any advantages to the player. It's really just extra customization for PC players.

And no, you can't get banned for that. There's been zero known cases of people getting banned for this, as again, it has nothing to do with the anti-cheat. The only way you can get banned for it is if you're editing pak files to change the icons that are hard-coded into the files.

  • I think it's a bug. There's an entire survivor lobby theme for Silent Hill that's been unused in the files for a long time. I assume that they accidentally replaced the audio link to that theme with Pyramid Head's theme. In fact, they did the same thing for one of Nick Cage's voice lines on the PTB.

  • Thank God. The portraits are still a TERRIBLE change, but at least my mini heart attack when I logged on and saw the character portraits still there was unwarranted.

If any BHVR employees are reading this, PLEASE REVERT THIS CHANGE!!!

  • I've been having this issue too. I tried to do it for about a week before I realized that it was bugged. I'm trying to 100% every tome, so this is a massive issue for me.

  • The next phase is coming in 6.3.0. For some reason it wasn't in the PTB, but it's going to add an extra 3 prestige levels to a character if they were level 50 prestige 0-2 in 6.0.2, as if they had prestiged another level before the update.

I assume that there's going to be more phases coming later though, which will probably come out in 6.5 maybe?

  • I think that if you get both survivor and killer to Red I, at the end of the month you can either choose between a prestige token and the bloodpoints, or get both. Whichever one is more reasonable. That way you're rewarded more for getting to a high rank at the end of the season.

  • I've spent so many hours on this game along with trillions of bloodpoints. I'm not giving all that time and energy up to "fix" a bunch of problems that BHVR should be fixing themselves.

So in short, I never would.

Reassurance looks like a great perk, but as long as it doesn't get the BT treatment and becomes basekit with the perk resetting the timer/adding time to it for when it restarts, it's not going to do anything about camping.

The game already has several mechanics that show us the game knows exactly WHAT a player is doing WHERE, so having it that the hook timer just stops when a killer is moping around a hook. (likewise insidious could just stop working near an occupied hook).

How about instead of trying to make everything basekit, we make our voices heard and get BHVR to finally make camping and tunneling completely unviable.

Speaking for myself, any prestiging/grinding past P3, tops, is entirely self-inflicted and shouldn't be factored into calculations. Bloody clothing and charms don't affect gameplay the way lacking perks would, so I don't consider them part of The Grind (tm)

The barest of minimums would be P1, which is 10 more levels and gets everyone you own those perks in tier 1. From there it's your choice to level the specific character(s) you actually want the perks on, or keep grinding the character who owns the perks to get them in Tiers 2 and/or 3 in everyone.

Edit: I imagine levelling only your maina would be more a survivor thing, while trying to get all perks on all characters would be more valuable for Killers.

BTW, I should've clarified that it's solely for scale. my main point is that to get to Prestige 3 you have to grind the exact same amount, but now it's to get perks and now without Prestige cosmetics. The grind has become harder for newer players and super easy for older players, which is not something that should ever happen, especially with this game. The newer player's grind is getting even worse with each new chapter that releases, effectively making it so that the only easy way to get the grind done is if you have played the game since release.
