  • With NOED most likely being used more often now, do you think that Blood Warden will be used more also? Survivors 99 gates but killers will just learn to open the gate then hook. If this happens will we see even more unbreakable on survivors also?

  • The new ruin will only hurt a specific amount of killers such as the trapper or hag who have to give up gens in the beginning of the match because they have to set up. This might destroy them and just make them not viable anymore for high ranks. Killers use ruin to slow down the beginning, no good killer thinks they are getting ruin the entire game. I am happy if I get a single hook, that gives me pressure but not so much to where I feel like im already winning. Killers like trapper though,I feel like gens will fly and the game will be done after your setup. Any killer who has to setup or Myers who has to stalk to be effective the new ruin I dont think will make them that good.

I do agree with the thought of them catering to newer players which seems unfair since some dedicated killers want to stop because all of the nerds that have come.

The survivors I feel will take a toll also since it should theoretically be easier for them I feel like there will be bad survivors scattered in all ranks now. More than there are now.

I think this new ruin will break ranks more, not like that's a surprise considering matchmaking right now. Solo survivors will be screwed as will good killers.

There are definently good combos that we dont need ruin for, I dont use ruin every game and I can do fine sometimes. But like someone said earlier, good groups even with ruin can rush gens but now it just gets easier for them.

I hope you get a chance to play the PTB Doctor if you wish to, since I want to know what he's like to play. I don't ever intend on buying him. Your observations on the patch notes are really helpful, thanks!

I do agree killers will have to play more aggressively, which i'm not excited about.. I like to play casually and try my best, and I don't like being sweaty as it gets tiring. Now, i'll have to play sweaty tryhard every game just to win. Really makes it unfun for killers.

I think the biggest problem of the change and most changes will be SWF. Ruin will make gens regress but 2 problems that I see. One is that it is still a hex so it easy to disable. And second is that most groups and survivors in general when one survivor gets chased will get back on the same gen with little to no penalty. That's what I'm scared about currently. How will killers slow down the game at the start in this state?

I always wanted doctor to be changed and hopefully this does put him in a better spot. So if anyone has knowledge on this change that would be great to know. Not really sure how the changes work and if it made him better or worse.

  • I have not played the ptb yet but these are my initial thoughts on the doctor and ruin changes.

The Doctor has always been on the weaker end of the killers. He does give good information and obviously if played well he's good but that is for any killer. I have read the changes and it seems that they made him weaker but I am not sure since I haven't played the ptb yet.

The ruin change seems ridiculous. I like both sides of the game. But it seems that gen rushing will be a lot easier now and ruin will probably not be used as much or not at all with the change. If the player wants gens to regress it is usually 1 maybe 2 gens and they will use Pop against it which is much more effective. Survivors can gen rush much easier because ruin wont slow them down and Corrupt Intervention only works on gens that arent being worked on.

It seems like killers have to be much more aggressive now which I think will hurt killers like the trapper or hag who have to set up. I think making ruin a non hex perk would be better if changed like this. My guess is that Discordance+PGTW will be used much more frequently now. That is my guess.

Remember, I have not played any of the changes this is ONLY based on what I read. I could be wrong on how this works now.

  • I mean, if it makes you happy go for it. If you are playing to have fun and that's fun for you cool. But if you are trying to get better it wont help you. I assume you arent though.

  • He is actually imo in a good spot right now. I have played some wraith after truetalent popularized it and he is pretty fun. I use no add ons, that's my preferred way to play. He is an m1 killer which makes him weaker but his cloak is the only thing that really makes him viable. You can close distance to get the second hit faster since after that unlock all you can do is m1. To me, he is balanced. I would say he is better at body blocking pallets than other killers but better survivors wont fall for that trick. Bad survivors freak out because of his cloak and they arent used to all the killers. It takes time to get used to. But after you learn more, he is one of the easiest to counter.

  • I'm competitive just because it is fun to win and get better. My goal is to always get better and better. Sure, it's fun with friends to joke around sometimes but I personally get enjoyment for that meaningless number and pips to go up and up.

They should just fix matchmaking. Instead of most games sticking most with Gen rush and most with face campers put those folks against the quitter. Quit? You get the Gen rushers if killer and you get the face camping killer if survivor. Playing killer I face a majority Gen rushers I can't touch, yup I suck and as survivor once I hit purple it's non stop face camp tunnel city. It blows. Getting to purple feels like a pro grabbing hook saves, actually stunning a killer twice in a game or being able to hook everyone 3 times to catching one before 3 gens pop. It sucks bad on both sides but it seems it's happening to more than less. The folks not here complaining aren't likely getting matched against rushers every game or face camping tunneling every game.

    Help both sides devs

    Slow gens in a chase

Speed then up when killer is within a certain range of hook and camping and tunneling. Seems like the closest fix outside of fixing DS how it originally was or letting ruin run the entire game 🤷‍♂️

I honestly think this would be the best fix. Since some maps like cold wind are huge and some maps are small like Gideon. Seems like it would be hard to implement unless hooks were paired with gens which would be interesting to see.

I said a few calm down mate. Hawkins has very very few safe pallets do you like playing on it? That's what I thought.

The only reason I dont like playing Hawkins is that I still get lost because all of the hallways look the same. If they just opened up the map like gideon meat plant I think it would be a better map and just completely change the upper floor.

Survivors will run with their head fully turned and when I get close they run into my body to the point I can only see their heads I can hit but still stop running into my camera like a beggar and choose your route so you don't get caught in the open in the first place.

Survivors do this as a last resort. They will keep spinning around you on purpose to try and get you disoriented to gain some distance and possibly get to another loop. This is hard to do effectively but if done right can save you.

I think I’m just going to play SWF from now on. I don’t understand why we can’t have more information in the HUD so that solo survivors get as much information as SWF. Until solos get more information in the HUD, the games balance will never be, well, balanced.

I don’t understand why I have to run certain perks just to get the information I’d get in SWF (bond, empathy, kindred)

At this point, I’d rather just play SWF. I know it’s unfair for killers, with the amount of information you can get, but I can’t stand playing solo with the matchmaking and lack of information.

The devs truly can’t balance the game until survivors are at an equal with each other. Hopefully something is done about this because I’d love to see buffs to killers as well, but if that were to ever happen, solo survivors need a buff too.

I agree with this. I can only evey play survivor and have fun with at least 1 other person which to me is the most fun. If I have a full stack we just mess around to be honest but 1 other person I feel like gives enough information but not so much to where it is unfair.

  • I just wish the ranking system meant more or that there was a different game mode with limited perks or something. Red ranks is the same perks every single game and low rank games is just bullying the killer/survivors which isnt really fun to me or the other side. I want to feel challenged but not with pretty much the same perks every single game. And like you said wanting to go back to green ranks I agree, for me it is just the sweet spot of fun.

  • I did not read the whole discussion but I like the premise of this idea. The killer had to use their time to activate it which to me sounds balanced. Being able to put it anywhere isnt the best to me. Maybe give them 2 or 3 options and let them choose. The killer would obviously put it in the best spot every game and as this would get more predictable for survivors it puts killers in a weird spot. Do they put them in a good spot or in a random bad spot. I think this aspect of randomness would keep it more unpredictable. Like another person said, you should not have to go up to the totem but activate it as if you are teleporting with freddy so the survivors cant just see it happening and instantly take it out

  • I do not think that recharge is a good way to balance a killer. It isnt fun for the players for the most part. Granted I do now know how else to fix this but I wish there was a better way. I do not play Nurse buy being able to blink like she used to be able to isnt good and I dont think recharging blinks is good either.

  • So, I would like to give my opinion on this. I have been red rank survivor and killer. Lower red rank survivor and usually rank 1 and 2 killer. There is 100% times that it is a good idea to tunnel. If you are not running an obsession perk and there is not an obsession that means there is no Decisive Strike and if that person is a weak link then you can kill them to slow down the game. There are definently perks that help killers slow down obviously such as ruin, pop goes the weasel, thrilling tremors and so forth but there are going to be points where those will not be effective. Ruin could be taken out at any time and for Pop sometimes you see another survivor and either go for the gen kick or the survivor. Sometimes you cannot do both as the survivor will gain too much distance and it is pointless chasing. If the gens are being worked on then thrilling tremors isnt that useful. This being said, there are many perks as a survivor that allows you to make multiple mistakes in one chase and still get out. There are too many scenarios to cover one by one. Easy ones to mention that tunneling is viable is that there is no DS, waiting out borrowed time to insta kill someone on a hook to slow down the game later since the killer has to wait the 15 seconds, or just an easy survivor to catch and so forth. Killers should 100% not be punished for this. If a survivor is getting tunneled then they are making a mistake or the person who saved them is. If you are solo queueing I can understand how this gets infuriating since they might go for the save without borrowed time and yes that does suck but there isnt much you can do about it unless you have DS which at high ranks is very common. All in all, killers should not be punished for the survivors mistakes because they already kind of are. Survivors have perks to save them from their mistakes that killers have to already deal with. So if a killer sees a weak link or a strong survivor that is in a bad position they should capitalize. It shouldnt just be "Oh, I just hooked that person. I cant hook them again" If you want that to be the game or thinks that is how it should be played then I'm sorry. Killers are there to kill and punish. Survivors are trying to escape.

To comment on one thing you said that there are counters to looping which is true sometimes. There are safe loops and unsafe loops for survivors. Against some of the best loops in the game and if the survivor runs them right there is almost no counter to them. Ironworks of Misery is one of the worst maps of this. If there is a survivor that is doing these things well they need to die, and they need to die fast so if you see them start messing up then you should punish them.

When you say Killers are more viable for gameplay than survivors that is simply not true. Both sides have their hate towards the other side. The "crutch" perks. There is a difference from killers crutch perks and survivors. Survivors can easily find ruin if they know common totem spots, doesnt take too long to find. If you expect NOED, do totems, not difficult. If you consider Pop as a crutch perk then the survivors are just doing that gen fast and the killer has to earn that kick. Survivors on the other hand do not have to earn their crutch perk, just like killers dont have to earn Ruin but have to hope they dont lose it. Survivor get one use of DS which the killer has to eat through it giving them another chance or the killer has to wait 60 seconds. They dont earn it, they mess up and the killer has to pay for it. Adrenaline you do have to earn but if you use adrenaline and the killer has NOED you dont have a right to complain as that is the counter and you get an additional sprint burst with that pretty much that doesnt matter if you are exhausted or not. Both sides are definently viable to play for gameplay, just depends on which side you like more. Just remember both sides have things that are annoying.

I am 100% aware you are not talking about perks but if a killer is tunneling it is either perk related or just punishing survivors for mistakes. Yes, killers have perks where you dont have to tunnel which most good killers know when it is or isnt a good idea to tunnel. If you are a survivor and are on the receiving end of tunneling all you can do is buy your team time. Survivors freak out when they are 1 person down and killers take that to their advantage. They start playing very scared that they will be next. I do not see killers that will only focus one survivor at a time. If you see that I am sorry but that should be a very easy win for survivors if they have decent perks.

Killers cannot abuse tunneling like you are saying, there is a time and a place for it and usually killers do not like to tunnel but they want to win also so if you see tunneling they are most likely just trying to create a possible winning scenario for them.

This was a very lengthy response and you will most likely disagree with it buy here it is.
